Ewan,
No one particular reason really. We weren't sure whether players and supporters were really keen to continue it as last season tailed off.  At our recent meeting the Board felt that it was popular and asked us to revive it, which we were happy to do.  To be perfectly honest we got sidetracked with other more pressing issues. With the benefit of hindsight we should have kept it going - I have to take responsibility for that.
 
We'll do the August award at the next home match, possibly that will be Athlone, unless the Limerick match is rescheduled earlier.

Yeah, not sayin who I am but I'm signed for them. We are ment to be playing Longford City tomorrow. Cant see it going ahead now with the weather. I have to compliment the manager Thomas Donnelly(cooper). He does not know the team that well and we are not the most physical team but he has us playin good footie.haha there is a squad of 23-25. A few have left because of the leaving cert but will be back next year. I dont think there plannin ta do great this year, there gettin alot of young talented lads to build for next year. They are in a group with....longford,shamrock rovers,st.pats,cork city i think and a good few more. hope that helps ya out?

Im not sure Christo. There only is one Kildare and they are just not getting the results this season at all. I was just joining in the conversation.  the club is not signing local players by choice. this is what I mean by being shot down and rubbished.

Thanks for all your text votes - voting now closed - we have a winner and Philly is busy scratching his name on the trophy.  Presentation tomorrow (Friday) night after we beat Limerick 37.  Don't forget to get down to Station Road and support the lads and bring a friend, or if you haven't got one just kidnap someone you don't particularly like - even bring your wife/husband, girlfriend/boyfriend, or someone else's better half if you must - romantic candlelit dinner for two at Shay and Jays, Philly Hughes scoring a hat trick (no pressure there Phil), John Ryan dancing in the centre circle, the Casey fellow singing at half time - the Eircom League doesn't get any better than that!  
 
Now that the evenings are drawing in, visit Steve's Clothing Emporium for some Kildare County warm weather merchandise - the Ciaran Kilduff speedos are just in!
 
Now I'm off to sell some 'Every 1 a Winner' tickets - if you haven't got yours yet then pick some up in the clubhouse on Friday night - we need YOUR support with this.

it annoys me that people post on here without obtaining the correct information. I am not in the habit of replying to posts but I was unable to avoid it on this occasion.

Zuppy Just a few little points to correct

I am Secretary of the Underage League and having sorted ourdifferences became involved with Kildare County at the start ofthe season.

I have pushed hard for local players to be brought intoCounty’s set up.

Not wanting to cause problems with clubs within the League itwas decided to allow players continue play with their Schoolboy Clubs until theend of the season

If you know anything about Eircom League Football you willknow that the transfer window opens in July- Schoolboy players could not havebeen signed before this date.

Eoin Powderly was the first to sign up in July followedquickly by Orrin Farrell- The reason that Orrin did not sign at the same timewas because he was injured.

These two are the first two to actually sign directly fromSchoolboy Clubs and I will continue to push and promote Schoolboy players as much as I can.

This is the reasonthat the Underage League became involved in Kildare County and Eircom League Football. We see it as the way forward for Schoolboy Players.

I am aware that the Junior League did likewise i.e. waited untiltheir season was over and signed local players in the transfer window.

You seem to forget that signing at any other time of theyear would have led to disruption within the Junior and/or Underage League andthis is of no benefit to anybody.

This has nothing to do with financial necessity but due torespect for Clubs within Kildare and the Eircom League Rules.

On another point that was mentioned

Every one of the Academy over 200 players were given free seasontickets – actually Academy players were given cards- to allow free entry to allof Kildare County.

However this offer has not been taken up for whatever reasonbut we will be pushing the case when the Academy returns as we have alwaysdone.

Plans are underfoot within the Underage League to encourageSCHOOLBOY Players to attend games.

You seem to forge that Kildare County is made up of theJunior League and Underage League among others and that these members also haveresponsibilities to Players and Clubs within Kildare which ultimately will leadto the pathway for players to come through and play Eircom League football inthe County.
