Parting of ways for Eric and County

After a season and a half at the helm manager Eric Hannigan and Kildare County have decided on a parting of the ways.

The decision was taken at a meeting between the board and the manager over the weekend. Both parties expressed their bitter disappointed at not achieving promotion this season Eric was thanked for the significant progress made during his term as manager.

Although promotion was not achieved the club did record its highest finish (4th) as well as having another good FAI cup run including an away victory over Bohemians and a defeat by a last minute goal away to Derry City in the quarterfinal.

John Ryan, popular former assistant manager and player at the club has been appointed to take over and his first task is to negotiate new contracts with the players that the club wishes to retain for the 2005 season and attract new talent. Another Station Road favourite Barry OConnor has been appointed to the position of assistant manager.

The club would like to take this opportunity to wish Eric Hannigan all the best for the future and also to wish John and Barry the success that the club and supporters crave during next season.
