County sign striker Lorcan Cronin

Kildare County have added exciting young striker Lorcan Cronin to their squad for the 2007 season. Lorcan joins the Thoroughbreds after spending three years with Nova Southern University (NSU), Florida.

Cronin made a big impression in the States. He was named as the Californian Soccer Conference's player of the week a number of times and was an integral part of NSU's senior soccer team last season. Lorcan played in sixteen of NSU's seventeen competitive games scoring six goals. This made Cronin the Sharks lead scorer for the season. In his first year at NSU, Cronin was named as 2003 League Player of the Year.

Cronin was the first ever NSU player to receive Player of the Year honours since joining the conference in 1994. Lorcan, highly rated in the US, was also picked out by ESPN Sports as one of the best young players in the US, and made it into the second team of a squad encompassing all of the United States college soccer players.

He has represented Ireland at youth international level. He started for tournament-winning Ireland in the Celtic Cup underage tournament in 2002 before moving to America. At the time, Cronin was a Bohemians youth player.
