Fiachra latest to re-sign

Twenty-four year old Dundalk born Fiachra McArdle is the latest of last season’s squad to re-sign for the Thoroughbreds. Fiachra joined Kildare County at the beginning of the 2007 season following his departure from Dundalk midway through the previous season.

He joined Derby County as a fifteen-year-old in 1998 and picked up a Premier Reserve League winners medal in 2001 and was part of the first team squad at Derby the following season.

Having failed to make the big break-through Fiachra returned to Ireland and joined Shamrock Rovers under manager Liam Buckley (One of the leading lights in the formation of Sporting Fingal, who will compete in the FAI Eircom League “A” Championship next season). While at Rovers he picked up a serious knee injury.

He then moved to his native Dundalk before spending a short time with Athlone Town. He returned to Dundalk for the 2006 season but parted company with the Lilywhites midway through the season.

His first season with Kildare was somewhat marred by a serious shoulder injury, which curtailed his appearance to sixteen, with one goal to his credit.

Fiachra, an attacking midfielder, was capped for the Republic of Ireland at under 18, 19 and 21 levels.
