Colin Murray joins Thoroughbreds

Colin murray joins Thoroughbreds

Following the recent signing of Kilcock player Eoin Powderly manager John Ryan moved to secure the services of another Kildare native Colin Murray from Leixlip.

Nineteen year old Colin played his schoolboy football with Cherry Orchard and started his senior career in 2007 with Irish League side Crusaders, where he spent five months before moving to Longford Town in January of this year. He made four first team starts at Town.

Murray is already an accomplished full back and was a member of the Irish under 18 elite squad last season. Following his County debut in the away game against Limerick 37 on Friday night a very disappointed Colin commented “County are a much better side that that result indicates. We did not play well on the night but sometimes when you are struggling for points things go that way.

Limerick is a difficult place to get results but I am sure that we will bounce back from this setback”.

Colin is a son of well known former League of Ireland player Martin Murray, who had illustrious career winning a league and cup double with Dundalk in 1988 following his return from a five year spell at Everton. Martin returned to Oriel Park as manager in 2001 and his side lifted the FAI cup the following year when the beat Bohemians.

All at the club welcome Colin and wish him success in his football career.
